Wisdom is a new social audio app built for experts BY experts, to MONETIZE their expertise, GROW their personal brands, and HELP those who need it most. It’s a fun and easy way to get people involved in a conversation because it’s built with creators and entrepreneurs in mind. You can listen to LIVE conversations with industry experts about things that matter, across dozens of categories. From Life & Wellness, to Business, to Technology, Education and so much more, the Wisdom App really does have something, for everyone. And the cool thing about this new platform, from a creator mindset, is think of it as a podcast, but live, with the recordings of the conversation stored and available to distribute across the internet – like this YouTube video! But as a creator, we want the best sound we can possibly get and that means integrating things like background tracks, professional XLR mics, call-ins, and so much more. In this article, you’ll learn HOW to get professional-sounding audio into your Wisdom rooms – all through the use of a RodeCaster Pro, a set of wired headphones, and a $7 cable!
Why Use Professional Audio In Your Wisdom Room?
No matter the size of your audience or how great your message is, quality audio is key to getting people to want to spend their time listening to it. Sure, it’s nice to be able to do a quick room on your phone and record the audio directly from that, but this just isn’t going to sound very good. Many people struggle with having a quality mic available on their smartphones. And even if you have one, recording audio from a device designed to make phone calls just doesn’t have that crisp, clean sound that using a professional microphone does.
What Gear Do I Need?
And it’s really not even that difficult. All you need is a few things:
- RodeCaster Pro (https://amzn.to/3vWqgjq)
- Wired, Over-Ear Headphones (https://amzn.to/318nhZP)
- TRRS to TRRS Audio Cable (https://amzn.to/2ZvIJHq)
- Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Adapter (https://amzn.to/3GBk45e)
Now I understand this setup isn’t the cheapest option out there. Other things may work too, I’m just telling you what I use. This setup will cost you a little under $700 in total, but it sets you up for success with anything in the audio world.
How Do I Set This Bad Mama Jama Up?
All you need to do is plug in your RodeCaster Pro, power it up and connect your devices.
Step 1: Headphones
Use the included 1/4 cable thats included with your headphones to connect into the headphones and then direct to the port on the back of the device as shown on the ports image below.
Step 2: Phone
Attach the TRRS cable to your phone (using the dongle for you Apple users), and the other side into the phone input on the back of your RodeCaster as shown on the ports image below.
Step 3: Test and Go Live!
I do recommend opening up the voice recorder app on your phone to make sure that your phone has audio coming in. I started my first room without testing this and only learned about 28 minutes later that nobody could hear anything. WOMP. If you’re not getting any audio, just close the app and power down your RodeCaster, then start over. I did this 2 or 3 times and it finally connected in just the way I needed it to.
So that’s really all there is to it. Now you should be able to get professional-sounding audio into your Wisdom rooms. I’ve been involved in web development for over 20 years now – I’m 33, and to date myself I’ve been developing websites since the early days of GeoCities and custom Myspace pages. I’ve seen the industry change and evolve, but one thing has remained constant: no matter what industry you’re in, you need fresh content to stay relevant.
